Watching american idol lately the way it operates and the mindset it creates,promotes and thrives on-is the same condition the church here in america finds herself in. She searches,promotes ,markets a jesus,salvation,church etc by what the people want and not what God declares in His final authority in all matters: The Bible.
2 timothy 4:3-5 3-5You're going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food—catchy opinions that tickle their fancy. They'll turn their backs on truth and chase mirages. But you—keep your eye on what you're doing; accept the hard times along with the good; keep the Message alive; do a thorough job as God's servant.
1 corinthians 1:11-12
11-12I bring this up because some from Chloe's family brought a most disturbing report to my attention—that you're fighting among yourselves! I'll tell you exactly what I was told: You're all picking sides, going around saying, "I'm on Paul's side," or "I'm for Apollos," or "Peter is my man," or "I'm in the Messiah group."
Romans 1:22-26
