In the movie and the book(s) in the series there is a written warning and a verbal warning repeated by thimble tack which is: Not to open the book or face dire consequences. Indirectly this points us to the biblical gospel where we both christains are warned not to pry into the mysteries God has not chosen to reveal to us like: the origin of sin etc
