La resurrección 1Y el primer día de la semana María Magdalena fue* temprano al sepulcro, cuando todavía estaba* oscuro, y vio* que ya la piedra había sido quitada del sepulcro.
2Entonces corrió* y fue* a Simón Pedro y al otro discípulo a quien Jesús amaba, y les dijo*: Se han llevado al Señor del sepulcro, y no sabemos dónde le han puesto.
3Salieron, pues, Pedro y el otro discípulo, e iban hacia el sepulcro.
4Los dos corrían juntos, pero el otro discípulo corrió más aprisa que Pedro, y llegó primero al sepulcro;
5e inclinándose para mirar adentro , vio* las envolturas de lino puestas allí, pero no entró.
6Entonces llegó* también Simón Pedro tras él, entró al sepulcro, y vio* las envolturas de lino puestas allí,
7y el sudario que había estado sobre la cabeza de Jesús, no puesto con las envolturas de lino, sino enrollado en un lugar aparte.
8Entonces entró también el otro discípulo, el que había llegado primero al sepulcro, y vio y creyó.
9Porque todavía no habían entendido la Escritura, que Jesús debía resucitar de entre los muertos.
10Los discípulos entonces se fueron de nuevo a sus casas.
Aparición de Jesús a María Magdalena 11Pero María estaba fuera, llorando junto al sepulcro; y mientras lloraba, se inclinó y miró dentro del sepulcro;
12y vio* dos ángeles vestidos de blanco, sentados donde había estado el cuerpo de Jesús, uno a la cabecera y otro a los pies.
13Y ellos le dijeron*: Mujer, ¿por qué lloras? Ella les dijo*: Porque se han llevado a mi Señor, y no sé dónde le han puesto.
14Al decir esto, se volvió y vio* a Jesús que estaba allí, pero no sabía que era Jesús.
15Jesús le dijo*: Mujer, ¿por qué lloras? ¿A quién buscas? Ella, pensando que era el hortelano, le dijo*: Señor, si tú le has llevado, dime dónde le has puesto, y yo me lo llevaré.
16Jesús le dijo*: ¡María! Ella, volviéndose, le dijo* en hebreo: ¡Raboní! (que quiere decir, Maestro).
17Jesús le dijo*: Suéltame porque todavía no he subido al Padre; pero ve a mis hermanos, y diles: "Subo a mi Padre y a vuestro Padre, a mi Dios y a vuestro Dios."
18Fue* María Magdalena y anunció a los discípulos: ¡He visto al Señor!, y que El le había dicho estas cosas.
Aparición a los discípulos 19Entonces, al atardecer de aquel día, el primero de la semana, y estando cerradas las puertas del lugar donde los discípulos se encontraban por miedo a los judíos, Jesús vino y se puso en medio de ellos, y les dijo*: Paz a vosotros.
20Y diciendo esto, les mostró las manos y el costado. Entonces los discípulos se regocijaron al ver al Señor.
21Jesús entonces les dijo otra vez: Paz a vosotros; como el Padre me ha enviado, así también yo os envío.
22Después de decir esto, sopló sobre ellos y les dijo*: Recibid el Espíritu Santo.
23A quienes perdonéis los pecados, éstos les son perdonados; a quienes retengáis los pecados, éstos les son retenidos.
Incredulidad de Tomás 24Tomás, uno de los doce, llamado el Dídimo, no estaba con ellos cuando Jesús vino.
25Entonces los otros discípulos le decían: ¡Hemos visto al Señor! Pero él les dijo: Si no veo en sus manos la señal de los clavos, y meto el dedo en el lugar de los clavos, y pongo la mano en su costado, no creeré.
26Ocho días después, sus discípulos estaban otra vez dentro, y Tomás con ellos. Y estando las puertas cerradas, Jesús vino* y se puso en medio de ellos, y dijo: Paz a vosotros.
27Luego dijo* a Tomás: Acerca aquí tu dedo, y mira mis manos; extiende aquí tu mano y métela en mi costado; y no seas incrédulo, sino creyente.
28Respondió Tomás y le dijo: ¡Señor mío y Dios mío!
29Jesús le dijo*: ¿Porque me has visto has creído? Dichosos los que no vieron, y sin embargo creyeron.
El propósito de este evangelio según Juan 30Y muchas otras señales hizo también Jesús en presencia de sus discípulos, que no están escritas en este libro;
31pero éstas se han escrito para que creáis que Jesús es el Cristo, el Hijo de Dios; y para que al creer, tengáis vida en su nombre.

A) Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that(
B) the stone had been taken away from the tomb. 2So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple,(
C) the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, "They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and(
D) we do not know where they have laid him." 3(
E) So Peter went out with the other disciple, and they were going toward the tomb. 4Both of them were running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5And stooping to look in, he saw(
F) the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. 6Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7and(
G) the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’[
a] head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself. 8Then the other disciple,(
H) who had reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; 9for as yet(
I) they did not understand the Scripture,(
J) that he must rise from the dead. 10Then the disciples went back to their homes.
Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene 11But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped to look into the tomb. 12And(
K) she saw(
L) two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had lain, one at the head and one at the feet. 13They said to her,(
M) "Woman, why are you weeping?" She said to them,(
N) "They have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him." 14Having said this, she turned around and(
O) saw Jesus standing,(
P) but she did not know that it was Jesus. 15Jesus said to her, (
Q) "Woman, why are you weeping?(
R) Whom are you seeking?" Supposing him to be(
S) the gardener, she said to him, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away." 16Jesus said to her, "Mary." She turned and said to him in Aramaic,[

T) "Rabboni!" (which means Teacher). 17Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to(
U) my brothers and say to them,(
V) 'I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to(
W) my God and your God.'" 18Mary Magdalene(
X) went and announced to the disciples, "I have seen the Lord"—and that he had said these things to her.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples 19(
Y) On the evening(
Z) of that day, the first day of the week,(
AA) the doors being locked where the disciples were(
AB) for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, (
AC) "Peace be with you." 20When he had said this,(
AD) he showed them his hands and his side. Then(
AE) the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As(
AF) the Father has sent me,(
AG) even so I am sending you." 22And when he had said this, he(
AH) breathed on them and said to them, (
AI) "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23(
AJ) If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld."
Jesus and Thomas 24Now(
AK) Thomas, one of the Twelve, called the Twin,[
c] was not with them when Jesus came. 25So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them,(
AL) "Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and place my finger into the mark of the nails, and place my hand into his side, I will never believe."
26Eight days later, his disciples were inside again, and Thomas was with them.(
AM) Although the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you." 27Then he said to Thomas, (
AN) "Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe." 28Thomas answered him,(
AO) "My Lord and my God!" 29Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me?(
AP) Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
The Purpose of This Book 30(
AQ) Now Jesus did many other signs(
AR) in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31(
AS) but these are written so that you may(
AT) believe that Jesus is the Christ,(
AU) the Son of God, and that by believing(
AV) you may have life(
AW) in his name.
