Domestic abuse and the Bible


FACT SHEET: DOMESTIC ABUSE AND THE BIBLE : I wrote this in 2004 for my dating and courtship class i was teaching at my church....



I. Why do people say that the bible supports, Endorses or encourages domestic Abuse?



A. Ignorance: (Mt. 22:29 )

B. Misapplication of Scriptures: Quoting one passage or part of a passage without consulting other parts of the bible that relates to the issue at hand.

C. Taken it for granted; That it is in the bible without searching its passages to see if it is so.

E. Culture/Traditions: ( Col 2:8, 16-23)

F. Hatred of God’s word: (Psa 50:17, Isa 5:24 , Isa 30;12, Jer 6:10 )

G. False Prophets/teachers: (Tit 1:10 -12, Jer 50:6, 2T 4:3-4)

H. Self Righteous: (Isa 65;5, Mt 6:5)

II. What does the bible teach about women?
